Mrs. Cora May Dent, 80, died Friday, April 7, in a Charleston hospital following a long illness. She had been residing with her daughter, Mrs. Earl Parsons, Scott Depot. A native of Palestine, Wirt County, she was the widow of Robert E. Dent, a former lockmaster at Marmet. Mrs. Dent was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church at Bancroft, past president of the Marmet Woman's Club, and a member of Nitro Chapter, O.E.S., 153, and Charleston White Shrine No. 7. Also surviving are a son, Robert June Dent, Marmet; two sisters, Mrs. Maude Thorne, Parkersburg, and Mrs. Orma Veach, Palestine; four granddaughters and five great-ganddaughters. Services were held Monday, April 10, in the First Presbyterian Church, Nitro, by the Revs. D.D. Young and Robert Pate. Interment was in the Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, under direction of the Cooke and Pauley Funeral Home of Nitro.
