Updated 2023: Middle name from birth record, son of Ebenezer and Deborah (Debby) Harnden born Phillips Maine; he was age 12 in the 1850 census. His father was a farmer born in Massachusetts and mother was born Maine. His siblings were Eben Jr, William, Joseph, John, Thomas, Charles and Nancy J. Samuel was still living with his parents in 1860 age 22.

He married some time after 1860 . In 1870 he and wife Augusta and had children Frederick born 1864, Nancy J. (Jennie) born 1867, and George J. borm in 1869. His parents are living next door along with son John and his family and Thomas and his family.

Daughter Jennie married Charles Smith in 1893 in Phillips Maine, son of Anthony Smith of Phillips. Son George (John George) married Burnette C. Hewins in 1894 in Phillips.

Son Fred died in 1895, buried here.

Daughter Lydia marrid Charles J. Blanchard in 1896 in Phillips. He was the son of Julius Blanchard. She died in 1900 at age 19 from heart failure, buried here.

Daughter Jennie was divorced and married second Geroge E. McCleary March 9, 1908 in Bath Maine. Jennie was a nurse and she was living with her mother in 1920 in Phillips and died in 1928.

Cemetery record wife Augusta Johnson ; others in lot recorded were Jennie H. McCleary 1867-1928, J. George 1869-1953 and Alfred G. 1909-1935

Augusta's family is buried in Center Stratford New Hampshire.

Samuel's parents share a stone in the Harnden Cemetery in Phillips but photo has not been added as yet. It is a walled cemetery with room for several graves but only the one stone for Ebenezer and wife Debbie (Deborah Carleton).
