BASTROP, LA. Funeral services for Mr. Charles Edward Dumas, Sr. of Bastrop will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop with the Reverend Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.

Charles Edward Dumas was born July 25, 1928 at Bastrop, Louisiana to the late Mattie Howard Dumas and Mary Susan Horton Dumas and he died, surrounded by his family, on Friday, February 10, 2012 at his home in Bastrop. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Eva Dumas, and five brothers, Thomas Dumas, James Dumas, Bill Dumas, Ben Dumas, and Tim Dumas.

Mr. Charles Dumas, a retired forester with the Woodlands Division of International Paper Company, was a faithful member of the Cherry Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1986. He was also a twenty-five year member of both the Mt. Gerizem Masonic Lodge and Sunny South Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mr. Dumas is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Dorothy Dumas; a son, Charles Dumas, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Bastrop, a daughter, Carolyn Thornburg and her husband, J.C. of Bastrop; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Pritchett and his wife, Amanda of Jacksonville, North Carolina, David LaRon Dumas and his wife, Angella of Lamar, Arkansas, Daniel Pritchett and his wife, Samantha of Texarkana, Arkansas, Jerry Little and his wife, Broni of Honeypath, South Carolina, and Tina Little of Holleyhill, South Carolina; a sister, Velma King of Bastrop, Louisiana; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Serving as pallbearers will be nephews, David Dumas, Danny Dumas, Scott Dumas, Benny Dumas, James Oliver Dumas, Dickey Wayne Vail, Wade Vail, Frankie Vail, and Wesley "BeeBe" Vail, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are M.E. "Shine" Duncan, Bill Russell, James West, Newt Carpenter, and Dr. Clint Netherland.

The family wishes to extend a special "thank-you" to Premier Hospice, especially Reverend Jordan, Cindy, Renee, Mary, Mildred, Peggy, and Libby.
