Mrs. Ruth Gwendolyn Worth Briggs, age 92, of Mount Airy died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Central Continuing Care.
She was born November 8, 1924 in Surry County to the late Robert Claude Worth & Alma Ingram Harris Worth.
Mrs. Briggs was a member of Mount Airy Friends Church.
She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Robert Wayne Worth Sr., and wife Frances Worth of Mount Airy, NC; grandchildren: Bobby Worth & wife Susan of Mount Airy, NC and Robin Crawford & husband Ron of East Bend, NC; special great-grandchildren: Ryan & Sydney Worth of Mount Airy, NC & Anna Crawford of East Bend, NC; half-sister, Betty McHone of Greensboro, NC; sister-in-law, Velna Worth of Mount Airy, NC; nieces: Jane Sheets & husband Wayne of Mount Airy, NC, Anne Spees & husband Wade of Mount Pleasant, SC, Beth Allen & husband Tom of Athens, GA and Susan Porter & husband Wiley of Winston-Salem, NC; and nephews: Greg Worth of Mount Airy, NC and Doug Worth & wife Pam of Satellite Beach, FL.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Briggs was preceded in death by her husband, Reda Daniel Briggs; infant son, Daniel Clay Briggs; sister & brother-in-law: Helen & Charles Blackmon; brothers: Neal & John Worth; brothers & sisters-in-law: George & Ruth Worth and Merrill & Lena Worth and special niece, Ginny Blackmon.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Howell Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy with interment to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.
