Mr. Jack Hilton Moore, Sr., 76, of 712 Hillcrest Drive, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday morning, September 28, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Moore was born December 3, 1933, in Surry County, son of the late Ernest Charles and Elizabeth Byrd Moore. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict, and retired as a route salesman from Tom's Snacks. Mr. Moore was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry Lynn Moore and Krista and Michael Jones, all of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack Hilton Moore, Jr. and Candice of Mount Airy; several stepchildren; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bobby Snow of Waxsaw, Stacey and Janson McMickle of Galax, VA, and Shania King of Mount Airy; a stepgrandson, Brett Jones of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, Olivia Snow, Blake Snow, and Jaden McMickle; an expectant great-granddaughter, Paisley McMickle; step-great-grandchild, Olivia Tolbert; several other step-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Carl Marshall of Mount Airy; a and brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Lillie Mae Moore of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Ruth Haynes Moore; his second wife, Beulah Sechrist Moore; a sister, Ethel Marshall; and four brothers, Alvin Moore, Calvin Moore, Rufus Moore, and Raymond Moore. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 30, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Spurlin and the Rev. Todd Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, the staff of Surry Senior Services, the staff of Bayada Nursing, and special thanks to Crystal Crouse, Peggy Pell, and Sandy Tilley for their love and care.
