Woollen manufacturer. He was the eldest child of William and Margaret Akerigg of Kendal, Westmorland. He married Jane E H Atkinson in 1874 in Kendal, and they had three daughters: Jane Margaret, Helen Mary and Ada Ruth. In 1881 they are living at Factory House, Alston, Westmorland. In 1891 they are living at 54 Loughborough Park, Brixton. He was one of the Executors of the Will of his brother, Joseph Handley Akerigg, who died in 1893 in Huddersfield.
