David Cliff Bartek passed away suddenly on January 31, 2012, at the age of 59, in a local hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he and his beloved wife, Jen Sue, had been living for 15 years.

He was born on August 23, 1952, in Belton, Texas to Ben C. Bartek and Agnes Dana Bartek, where he grew up as one of four children. He was married to Jen Sue Brandes on July 16, 1978, in Austin, Texas, where he and Jen had both graduated from the University of Texas.

David graduated from Belton High School in 1971, where he was a "Wall of Honor" graduate, and lovingly referred to as "Bull" Bartek. David was a first team All-District player in football his sophomore year. As a junior he was 1st team All-State on both offense and defense. His Senior year he was voted Senior Class President, and was selected as a 1st team All-State linebacker. He was also selected to Texas Football Magazine's Super Team as one of 11 players (regardless of class of school), and was selected to Sunkists Coach and Athlete All-American Team. David was selected to play in the Texas Coaches Association All-star game and made 13 tackles in the South's victory. David's athletic career at Belton High also included more than a few district, regional, and All-State honors in track and field shot put and discus categories.

At the University of Texas he played under the legendary coach, Darrell Royal, and was back-up fullback to two eventual All-Americans, Roosevelt Leaks, and Earl Campbell. He graduated from "The University" in 1975 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. He was very proud of this accomplishment and his time at Texas, and was a Longhorn to the max.

David held sales positions with Montgomery Ward, Clampitt Paper, and Interstate Batteries, and taught school as a substitute teacher in Westlake Independent School District, before he and Jen moved to Las Vegas in 1997.

David is survived by his loving wife Jen. David and Jen were desperately in love, were the loves of each other's lives, and enjoyed life to the fullest. He is also survived by his brother Bernard Bartek, and his wife Suzanne and their two children, Tracie and Clinton. Additionally, David is survived by Jen's two brothers, Allan and his wife Melissa of Austin, Texas, and Michael and his wife Delores of Temple. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

David was a gentle, loving, kind and sweet man and will be missed by all. Finally, and most importantly, David was a Christian, and is now at the feet of Jesus in Heaven, worshiping and praising the Lord. John 3:16 says that "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life". David Believed and is with Jesus today.
