Although he died in Riverside, his usual home was in Harrisonville, Missouri. He worked in signal maintenance for the railroad. His Stephens heritage can be easily traced using FindAGrave, back to Benjamin Stephens and Dorothy Jemima Waller Stephens who were among the earliest settlers of Kentucky. They left their home In Orange County, Virginia about 1778 and headed down the Wilderness Road.
