William was the son of John C. Gaylord & Lucinda Farnham.
Her served in Co. C of the 55th IL US INF from 31 Oct 1861 - 1863
Discharged For Disability Jan 28, 1863.

He was married on 26 Mar 1846 at Painesville, Lake County, Ohio by Rev. Caleb Van Ness, to Elizabeth Lyons Hutchins.
They had 9 children:
