William married Rita Drechsel of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin on October 8, 1966. They had three children together--Suzanne Marie Funk (Rogers), Kathryn Elizabeth Funk (Frankel) and Michael Paul Funk. William served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. After suffering from mental illness for many years, he took his own life in 1981.
