Buford D. "Buck" Moore, 66, Stratford

Buford D. "Buck" Moore, 66, Stratford died at his home in Stratford on Sunday, April 14, 2002 from complications from cancer. Services will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 10 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Stratford with Bill Moore officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Funeral Home in Stratford on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning at the Baptist Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

He was born May 2, 1935 in Dearborn, Mo., the son of Everett and Ruby Dennis Moore. On July 10, 1953 he married Shirley Jetter at Fort Dodge. Buck was a finish blade operator and worked on road construction for 32 years with Hallett Construction of Boone, McCarthy of Davenport and McAnnich of Des Moines. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. For 32 years, he was a member of Local #234 International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE).

His mother, Ruby Pfeiffer, father, Everett Moore, two daughters, Tammy Ann and Kelly Sue, and one sister, Reta West, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Stratford, two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Marybeth Moore, Webster City, Jon and Becky Moore of Mechanicsville, a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Bill Murray of Dayton; six grandchildren, Joshua and Meredith Moore of Webster City, Bill and Tyrel Murray of Dayton, Julianna and Kory Moore of Mechanicsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Dorothea Moore of Edlorado Springs, Mo., one sister and brother-in-law, Nina and Francis Brown of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
