Hilda Commons Barger, age 96, of Marietta, died peacefully in her sleep on March 22, 2011. Hilda was born and grew up in Blue Ridge but lived most of her life in Marietta. The last 20 years she lived in Smyrna. She loved to cook, especially Sunday dinners for her family. She also loved her flowers and could often be found gardening. The many friends she made at Marietta Nursing will miss her. Hilda will be remembered for taking care of many people and her love for her family.
She is preceded in death by sons Jimmy Bailey, David Bailey, Johnny Bailey, Steve Sockwell, and four siblings. She is survived by her daugher Betty Sockwell Hand of Marietta; grandchildren Mechelle Madel, Melissa Comer, Michael Bailey, Matthew Bailey, Jennifer Holmes, Lisa McKinney, Amy Sockwell, John Bailey; and many great grandchildren.
