Greg Kusmaul, 44, of El Dorado, died Monday, March 1, 2004, at his residence. Services are 1 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the patio garden at Maplewood Memorial Lawns Cemetery in Emporia.
He was born Sept. 11, 1959, in Emporia, the son of Maynard and Virginia (Thomas) Kusmaul. He attended schools in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in the class of 1977. He also attended Butler County Community College. After high school, he joined the United States Army. He served his country for five years. He received the Gallant Eagle Award in 1980 from the Army. He was united in marriage to Cathy Morton on Aug. 17, 1985 in Emporia. They have lived in El Dorado since 1990 coming here from Harper. His children were the most important things to him and he became a stay at home dad. He was a friend to all the kids and animals in the neighborhood. He volunteered many hours at Grandview Elementary School.
Survivors include: wife, Cathy; son, Chris; daughter, Tracy all of the home; parents, Maynard and Virginia Kusmaul of Emporia; brother, Larry Kusmaul of Allen; and sister, Sharon Seely of Emporia.
Memorials have been established with the Partners in Education or the El Dorado Animal Control Center. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who is assisting the family with these arrangements.
