Obituary for Joseph Boitnott

Joseph Fredrick Boitnott
June 18, 1955 – February 7, 2012

Joseph Fredrick Boitnott was born in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada on June 18, 1955. He was one of four sons born from the union of the late Wiley Peter Boitnott and the late Eleanor Loretta (Renaud) Boitnott. Joseph grew up in the Monroe area and graduated from Jefferson High School with the class of 1973.

Joseph loved to work and he always put his best foot forward. For many years he was employed by the Monroe County Road Commission working as a truck driver and foreman.

Joseph was a God fearing man and visited many churches over the years. He had attended Stewart Road Christian Ministries and had been a member of Monroe Full Gospel Church since 2008. Joseph had a big heart of gold and a warm smile. He was a kind, loving, and caring father, brother, and uncle and he was especially fond of his grandchildren. Caring so much for others led Joseph to be an Alcoholic Anonymous sponsor. He also participated in many motorcycle charity runs.

In his free time Joseph liked to collect American Indian memorabilia. He also loved to travel, and boating with friends was another favorite pastime.

Joseph Fredrick Boitnott age 56 of Monroe passed away at unexpectedly at his home at 4:36pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by two brothers: Gary and Donald.

Friends may gather from 10:00am until 2:00pm, Friday, February 10, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 2:00pm at Merkle's with the Rev. Harold Raines of Monroe Full Gospel and Dr. Sean O'Neal pastor of Stewart Road Christian Ministries co-officiating. Procession will follow to Woodland Cemetery for burial.

To cherish his memory he leaves two sons: Anthony Pierce and his significant other: Kally Shopshire of Monroe and David Boitnott of Monroe; a brother: Richard (Deborah) Boitnott of South Rockwood; four grandchildren: David Pierce, Alexa Boitnott Marchese, Skyler Pierce, and Tristan Boitnott; three nieces: Amy (Aaron) Hutchison, Stacy (Keith) Moore, and Andrea (Sean) Gawel; and one nephew: Christopher (Angie) Boitnott.
