NORFOLK - Esther Woodard Etheridge, 89, passed away Jan. 17, 2009. Mrs. Etheridge was born in Conway, N.C. She was the widow of Marion Lee Etheridge and was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. She retired from the U.S. Public Health Hospital in Norfolk as a switchboard operator.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann E. Crampton of Glen Allen, Va., and Lynn E. Liles of Richmond; four grandchildren, Jennifer Coleman of Charlotte, N.C., Debbie Nelson, Austin and Leigh Liles, all of Richmond; five great-grandchildren, Charissa Coleman and Zachary Coleman of Charlotte, Kiersten, Andrew and Caleb Nelson, all of Richmond.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Frank Crane and Dr. Gary Crampton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bon Secours Hospice, Richmond or Alzheimer's Association.
