Ruth graduated from Oxford College for Women in Oxford, Ohio, while Henny went to Valparaiso University. Prior to World War II, the couple worked together in the business of distribution of heavy equipment, and during the war they moved to Chicago and joined the Corps of Engineers. They lived in Chicago for many years.
Ruth continued with the government for 17 years. At the end of the war, Henny purchased the Wilmette Realty and Insurance Company. Both Ruth and Henny studied and received state broker's licenses in real estate and property insurance.
After Henny's death, Ruth returned to Brazil, Indiana -- after 30 years away. She remained there until her death in 1982.
This was my great-great aunt Ruth, for whom my sister Megan's middle name came from. She was a sweet lady, and though she did not have any children, she was very good to her nieces and nephews, her greats and even her great-greats (us). I have posted a picture of my brother and I when we were very little and visiting around Christmas of 1980.
