John P. Van Wyk, 82, of Hull died May 26, in the Sioux Center Nursing Home.

Services were Thursday at First Reformed Church in Hull, the Rev. Gerald Vander Velde officiating. Burial was in Hope Cemetery.

Van Wyk was born March 30, 1904, at Hull. He married Emma Verrips April 2, 1924, at Boyden. They farmed south of Hull until 1970 when they retired and moved into town. In 1983 they became residents of Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City. In 1984 they transferred to the nursing Wing of Sioux Center Community Hospital.

Van Wyk was a member of First Reformed Church, where he served on the consistory as an elder and deacon for many years.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Gladys Greving of Alton and Erma Jean Van Roekel of Clearwater, Florida; two sons, the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Van Wyk of Orange, California and Norman Van Wyk of Organ Hills, California; two brothers, William Van Wyk of Waco, Texas, and the Rev. Dr. Herbert Van Wyk of Holland, Pennsylvania; a sister, Eva Abertson of Artesia,California; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
