Mr. Livengood has been a semi invalid for the past few years. Some time ago his eyes began to give him trouble and finally he lost his sight entirely. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. Livengood and was born in Elk Lick Township on April 5th 1848, therefore was in his 81st year of age. He was married in 1872 to Miss Caroline Yoder and is survivedby his wife and the following children, A. G. Livengood and D. W. Livengood of Salisbury, Joseph Livengood who has been operating the home farm, Henry Livengood and Miss Elizabeth Livengood, at home.
Mr. Livengood was one of the succesful (sic) farmers of this section and was known as the "Sugar King", which title he acquired from his operating his sugar camps on a very extensive scale. He was a staunch Republican, a Civil War Veteran, being a member of Co. K 5th Pa. Heavy Artillery. The funeral service was held from his late home on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. T. R. Coffman pastor of the Church of the Brethren of Meyersdale. Interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
