He refused, and joined the Evangelical or Albright chuch in Salisbury. He was musical and had a good singing voice, was usually in charge of the singing. "Something of a character, individualistic, wth a witty, salty humor and a keen lawyer-type mind and considerable mechanical ability." He was a book maker and a shoemaker.
