He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Cuba, the son of Caddie W. and Sarah Agnes (Bishop) Amsler. He married Donna Rock on Feb. 13, 1949, in Cuba.
She survives, along with one son, William C. (Cheryl) Amsler of Rossville, Ind.; three daughters, Diana (David) Darr of Cuba, Linda (Michael) Mitchell of Cuba and Kathleen McLouth of Cuba; three brothers, James R. (Gladys) Amsler of Montgomery, Ala., Reverend V. Lee (Lavon) Amsler of Quincy and Ed (Georgette) Amsler of Florida; and one sister, Margaret (James) Williamson of Sun City, Ariz.
He was preceded by his parents.
He was a coal miner for Truax Traer/Consolidated Coal Company for many years before retiring.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533. He was also a member of Cuba United Methodist Church in Cuba, Masonic Lodge #534 AF&AM, and UMWA.
Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, with military rites accorded by his American Legion post.
