I believe Celia was born in Golden, Colorado. Her parents went to Colorado for the gold boom and settled in Golden where her father had a butcher shop. He was a prospector though, and went to South Park looking for gold. Ultimately he left the family and Celia's mother left Colorado for the Black Hills. In 1883, Mary Jane and seven children: Eliphelet, age 26; Hattie, age 18; Mack, age 15; Search, age 13; Celia, age 11; Bodanot, age 8; and Hiram, age 5; traveled to Spearfish, South Dakota.
Celia married John W. Faulkner in 1887 when she was just 15. She and John had 4 sons, Louis, Amos, Edward, and James. But by the 1910 census she was living with her mother in Minnesela, SD, without any of her children. Amos, age 20 was living with his father in Wheatland, Butte County, SD.
She married Henry C. South at age 41. Both she and Henry were divorced. She died at age 50.
