He was born in Duluth, and has been a lifelong Duluth and Proctor resident. He was an accountant for U.S. Steel's Duluth Works, and worked in construction for the AFL-CIO. He also worked at the Duluth Lighthouse for the Blind. He graduated with a bachelor's of arts degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Proctor, and was a former member of the Proctor Moose.
His father, William, died in 1993.
He is survived by two daughters, Christine M. Lepisto and Cheryl A. Morrison; two sons, Robert R., and William R.; his mother, Agnes Jugasek; former wife and special friend, Peggy Jugasek; a sister, Bonnie Maeckelbergh; a brother, William R.; and five grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Morrison, Janelle, Taryn, and Matthew Lepisto.
Inurnment will be in Oneota Cemetery.
