Elsie York, 82, of Jamestown, passed away March 25, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Born March 7, 1926, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry (Bill) and Audie Mae Lacky York; son, Jakie Allen Foster; one sister, Ethel Presley; and brothers: Albert, Alvin, Ovie, and Odell York. She was a member of Black Creek Crossroads Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jean Buckner Smith and husband, John Henry; son, Junior Huddleston and wife, Brenda; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters: Wilma Jean Price, and Leona Jones and husband, Bill, of Oregon; sister-in-law, Billie Mae Ellis; and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted March 27, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Author Nance, Jr. officiating. Music was provided by Linda and Arzo Hamby. Interment followed in Black Creek Crossroads Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements (Source: The Independent Herald, 3 Apr 2008, pB6)
