WILLIAMSBURG - Georgia Denton Gordon, 74, of Williamsburg, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at Williamsburg Community Hospital.

A native of Bailey, N.C., she moved to Williamsburg in 1942. Mrs. Gordon had retired as a bookkeeper for Granger, Linton and Hawthorne and as registrar for the city of Williamsburg. She was a longtime member of Williamsburg Baptist Church and was an active volunteer for Avalon and the York County Juvenile Courts.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Langon James Gordon; a brother, James Denton of Spring Hope, N.C.; two sisters, Edith Murray of Wilson, N.C., and Madeline Perry of Bailey, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. at Bucktrout Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James H. Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williamsburg Fire and Rescue Services, 440 N. Boundary St., Williamsburg, Va. 23185; or Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, Va. 23185.
