CHARLES PELTON ABBEY, son of Benjamin and Vienna Matilda (Pelton) Abbey, born in Portland, Conn., December 11, 1845.

Married in West Chester, Conn., September 4, 1867, ANNA E. DAY, born April 26, 1844, in Colchester, Conn., daughter of Isaac Henry and Sarah E. (Williams) Day.

Children, all but last born in Portland
Edith Luella Abbey, b. Nov. 10, 1868 : d. in Brooklyn. Aug. 27, 1908. Married in Brooklyn, June 9, 1897, Harvey Lawton Poey, of Whitestown.

Ernest Day Abbey, b. June 10, 1873; d. Aug. 17, 1874.

Henry Davis Abbey, b. June 9, 1877. He was a U. S. detective for many years, in the government gun works at South Bethlehem, Pa., Montreal. Canada, and elsewhere, is now with the Western Electric Company in New York. He was graduated from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and attended Stevens Institute of Technology. Married Jan. 7, 1909, Cecillia Larralde of Brooklyn, b. in Caracas, Venezuela, daughter of a French marquis of the old nobility in his own right.

John Day Abbey, b. Jan. 23, 1879. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, learned the trade of mechanical dentist which he followed until 1905, when he moved to Gildersleeve, Conn., to superintend the Abbey farm. Mr. Abbey has been especially proficient in gymnasium work and boxing, was a member of Central Y. M. C. A. in Brooklyn, and a leader in the Prospect Park branch, Y. M. C. A. Since his return to Connecticut he has been physical director of the Middletown Y. M. C. A. and the Young Emeralds T. A. B. Society of Portland. He is a member of the Founders and Patriots of America through his mother's paternal ancestor, Robert Day.

Charles Pelton Abbey, jr., b. in Brooklyn, N. Y., Dec. 9, 1888. Married Dec. 9, 1912, Miranda Elizabeth Crocker, daughter of Gilbert and Fannie (Tiffany) Crocker of Brooklyn. He resides in Flatbush, Brooklyn, and is employed in the publishing department of the Vitagraph Company of Brooklyn.
