Nina is the daughter of Ernest L. Daniells and Dora Risling. Nina real name is Carrie Lena Daniells. When Nina was a very little girl she wandered away from the family home in Leadville, Colorado. The lady that found her thought she looked like a little girl named Nina. So she asked if that was her name. Carrie said yes. After that day she would only answer to the name Nina.

Her mother died in 1903 just prior to the family's move to the ranch in Tulare County, Califoria, near Lindsay. There she met Woody Woodward. Nina married Woody Woodward on 14 Jun 1919 at her father's home near Lindsay, Tulare, California. They had three daughters Patricia, Phyllis and Pamela.

Nina is my grandmother. Her grandchildren all called her Nana or Nina but never grandmother. - Rebecca Boardman

Nina Woodward, 93, a resident of Porterville and a former longtime resident of Lindsay died Sunday in a local hospital.

Mrs. Woodward in junior and senior high schools in Lindsay.

She served as the Lindsay school librarian until her retirement in 1954.

She served as chariwoman for the 1936-37 Orange Blossom Festival in Lindsay. She was past president of the Lindsay Woman's Club, the Lindsay chapter of the American Association of University Woman and the Lindsay Art Association.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Tulare County Panhelenic Sorority and the California Retired Teachers Association.

She was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Lindsay and served as a reader for the Porterville Barn Theater for several years.

She was born Nona Daniells in Leadville, Colo., and moved to Lindsay in 1905.

She attended schools here and was a member of the second graduating class of Lindsay High School.

She was a graduate in the class of 1911 where she gave the Valedictory essay "Government ownership of Railways". There were 11 in her class.

She graduated from Stanford University in 1918 and returned to Lindsay where she married Charles Woodward on June 14, 1920.

Woodward died in 1969. She moved to Porterville in 1970.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Hayes and Pamela Melton, both of Porterville, and Phyllis Schottky of Sacramento; eight grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Webb-Sanders Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Olive Cemetery with Rev. James Thompson officiating.

The family prefers donations to the Porterville Museum Memorial Fund, 36 W. Cleveland Avenue, Porterville, 93257.
