Helen Mae Olomon, 93, was born June 15, 1918, in Harvard, Ill., the daughter of Carl E. and Nellie (Zimmerman) Wittmus. She died Feb. 1, 2012, at Parkview Healthcare in Bolivar.

She was reared and attended school in the Harvard, Ill., area.

She was united in marriage with Evertt Paul Olomon on May 15, 1942, in Harvard, Ill. Together they farmed in Dodge Center, Minn., before buying a farm in Racine, Minn.

She worked at Boeing Aircraft during World War II as a "B" mechanic while her husband was serving in the Army.

She was a hard working farm wife, taking care of all the needs of her family.

She was a member of a Lutheran church while living in Minnesota, and attended Bolivar United Methodist Church for the last 10 years. She served as a volunteer at Citizens Memorial Healthcare and was a member of the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evertt; her parents; one daughter, Deanna Olomon; and two brothers: Paul and Calvin Wittmus.

Survivors include two sons: Edwin and wife, Karen Olomon, Buffalo, and Wayne and wife, Cheryl Olomon, St. Louis; one daughter, Dr. Angela Olomon, and husband, Dr. John Howell, Bolivar; one sister, Marilyn Dusenberry, Marengo, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who will all truly miss her.


Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, in Bolivar United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.C. Harp II officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Dodge Center, Minn., under the direction of Czalewski Family Funeral Home. Local arrangements were under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo.
