HOLLIS BARRON'S SON PROMINENT EDITOR OF N. Y.
Newspaper.
Marion Barron, son of Police Chief Hollis and former Waco newspaperman, begins work Friday in a new position with considerably increased salary and responsibility, according to a letter received by his parents. He is now on the New York Herald-Tribune staff, after having been offered the managing editorship of the Newark Evening Ledger. In his 11 months absence from Waco, Barron has served as assistant sports editor and turf editor of a New York newspaper, associate editor of the magazine "Mayfair" and in the position he resigns this week.

Commenting on Texas' modification of the libel law, Barron said: "Since its bringing about by Dan Moody, despite some our legislators, Texas newspapers will probably be allowed to produce some real good papers, and the independent newspapermen of the State won't have to go to New York and San Francisco and Chicago to write what they think is right. News Tribune (Waco) March 23.

GRANDSON LATE COLLIN OFFICIAL.

The above newspaper clipping for the New Tribune, Waco, Texas, of March 23 will be very interesting to many old friends of Chief of Police Hollis Barron, of Waco, who was reared in and near McKinney and Plano. The rapid advancement of his son in the newspaper world is the source of much gratification to the friends of the Barron family in this county.

Marion Barron is a grandson of the late district clerk, Billy Barron, of Collin county. We congratulate our good friend, Hollis Barron, on having such a worthy, capable son as he has in Marion, who seems to have been born to the newspaper game and is going right on to the very top in journalism.
