W. Herbert Barnett, son of M.H. and Melvira Huggans Barnett, was born in Scotland county, April 18, 1884 and passed away in his home in Memphis Thursday, June 8. He was 77 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Bertha M. Silver of Upton, Iowa, and they were the parents of a son and daughter.
Mr. Barnett was a member of the methodist Church and the Odd Fellows lodge. He was a retired state highway employee.
Surviving are his wife of the home, the son, Clark of Upton, (Cantril), Iowa: the daughter Mrs. Vada Faller of Los Angeles, and four grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held from the Payne chapel Sunday, June 11 at 2:30 p. m. The Rev. Frederick Lawson had charge of the services. Burial was in the Cantril cemetery. body bearers were Lawrence Stott, Glen Fugate, W. Stone, Robt. Ferguson, Arland Eager and Paul Schenk.
