James was the son of William N. & Elizabeth Klar Clark. He first married Ollie Lindsey, 19 Oct 1873, Shelby County, Illinois. They had three children:

JAMES CLARK IS BURIED IN COWDEN

Cowden, Jan. 17.—The body of James Clark, a former resident of Cowden, was brought here for burial. Mr. Clark died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Homer Turney, near Windsor. Services were conducted by Rev. Harry Cochran of Cisco, assisted by Rev. C. S. McCollum of this place and Rev. Lew Baldwin of the Windsor circuit.

Mr. Clark is survived by three children, William Clark of Cowden, Roscoe Clark of Herrick and Mrs. Frankie Turney of Windsor.
