Audna Jean Acklen Young passed away peacefully on Jan 21, 2012. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Skipper Young and wife, Kathy Kelly Young, and daughters, Courtney and Whitney; Jay Young and wife, Charlene Whitford Young, and daughters, Ashley and Alyse; Glynn Ray Young and children, Haley, Wesley and wife, Ali, and Amber; and Jean Ann Whitehead and husband, Michael and sons, Forest and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, William Glynn Young, and her parents Byno and Audna Acklen of Ruston, LA.
Jean Young was born Jun 14, 1928 in Ruston, and graduated from Louisiana Polytechnical Institute (LA Tech) in 1948 with a B.S. degree in Home Economics Education. She was employed as a teacher in Caddo Parish and retired after 23 years of service. Her teaching spirit inspired thousands of young people over the years and she came to be known by all as "Mama Jean." She served the Lord faithfully at John Calvin Presbyterian Church for many years. In her retirement, she enjoyed her children and grandchildren.
