Alvera Ida Emma (Keilers) Liebscher, 97, of La Grange, entered heaven on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange with her family at her side.
Alvera was born in Oldenburg, Texas on October 1, 1914, the daughter of the late August and Johanna (Meinardus) Keilers. Alvera married Alvin Liebscher on March 3, 1935 at St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton, Texas.
In her younger years, she enjoyed playing volleyball, basketball and baseball. After she married Alvin, they enjoyed cooking, baking, dancing and gardening. Together she and Alvin farmed and raised cotton. In her later years, Alvera took care of the elderly in the area. Alvera dedicated her life to her son Larry and his wife Mary Ann and their four children and nine great grandchildren. Alvera was enjoyed and loved by the young and old. She spent the last six years with friends at Monument Hill playing dominoes, bingo and going to church services. Alvera's family and friends were the garden of her life.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Liebscher of Winchester; grandchildren: Cindy and Scott Hielscher of Austin, Michelle and Darren Kolbe of Ft. Worth, Jamie and John Speck of Rockport, James and Shyla Liebscher of Katy; great grandchildren: Afton Kolbe of Houston, Randi Kolbe of San Antonio, Darren Kale Kolbe of Ft. Worth, Ashley and Charles "Chuck" Hielscher of Austin, Jonah and Joi Hannah Speck of Rockport, Jacob and Aidan Liebscher of Katy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin, on February 13, 1989; son, Larry D. Liebscher; two sisters: Elda Marburger and Leoie Seifert; two brothers: Herbert and Quintos Keilers.
Visitation will be held at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive friends. Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, La Grange, Texas. Burial will follow at La Grange City Cemetery.
