Civil War veteran; he enlisted for the Union as a Corporal in Company I, 147th Indiana Infantry on February 1, 1865. He was the son of William Addleman II and Mary Elliott. He was a farmer and painter before the war and a native of Liberty township in Henry County, Indiana. When he enlisted, he was described as "5 feet 8 inches tall, with a dark complexion, grey eyes, and brown hair." He served until the close of the war and was honorably discharged on August 4, 1865 at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. He married Catherine A. Draher, a native of Pennsylvania, on June 30, 1867, at Whitewater, Wayne County, Indiana. They had 12 children - 9 sons and 3 daughters. He was living at Mt. Pulaski, Illinois in 1875. From 1897 to 1910, he was living at Joliet in Will County, Illinois. He died at Mt. Pulaski, Logan County, Illinois.
