Obituary:
Mom was born on May 14, 1924 to Ira and Jane Matthews Shelton in Yakima, Washington. She died peacefully at home in the early morning hours of January third, 2012.
After growing up in Selah Washington and graduating from Selah High School in 1942, mom moved to the Tacoma area in the early 1950s. She was married to George R. Day in October 1966. They lived together in Tacoma and rural Pierce County and spent their last years together in Graham, WA where George died in February 2001.
Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Dick, and her younger brother Ray. She is survived by her younger brother Frank (Carolyn) of Longview, WA. Also surviving are sons Walter (Jackie) of Yelm, WA, Paul of DuPont, WA, and Glenn (Kathleen) of Kingston, WA.
Surviving grandchildren are Janice and Wayne, Brent and Tonya, and Katrina and Mike. Great Grandchildren include Owen Riley, Lola Jane, Gavyn, Addisyn, Ella, and finally Anson. Mom is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery in Auburn, WA at 11:15 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11th, 2012.
