CONNEWAY - September 1st, '63 at the residence of his father, A. J. Conneway, in Henry Clay township, of typhoid fever. Ephraim Conneway, aged 23 years, 5 months and 21 days.
The deceased was one of those drafted from this county for nine months, and faithfully served out his time. He was a Sergeant in Captain Stacy's company, (C), 168th regiment, and contacted the disease, which proved fatal, at Harrisburg, on his way home. He died at home surrounded by kind friends and relations who did everything for him that love and affection could suggest, and in the blessed enjoyment of the Christian's triumph, having embraced religion at Newbern, North Carolina, seven months previous to his death.
