Charles Junior Bechtel, 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Tuscola, Illiois.

He was born on March 24, 1918 in Taylorville, Illinois, to Charles and Bertha Peters Bechtel. He married Frances Eagan on March 23, 1941 in Farmington, Missouri. She preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two sons, John and Sam.

He is survived by five children, Dennis (Barb) Bechtel, Dottie (James Fleniken) Browning, Scott (Lisa) Bechtel, Susan Hall Jeff (Terri) Bechtel, eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army in Co H 123rd Infantry. He served during World War II in the Southern Philippines and New Guinea, where he received two Bronze Star medals, combat infantry badge and a good conduct medal.
