Victor M. Ormsby, 86, of Durant, died Monday August 18, 1986, at Oak Glen Home Nursing Home in Coal Valley, Illinois.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be made to the Durant Volunteer Fire Department or the Durant Community Center in his memory.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 21, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. Mark Holmer officiating. Pallbearers are Robert Ploen, Earl Ormsby, Paul Schmelzer, Victor Wulf, Edward Huesmann and Wendell Cox. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Raymond Marmaduke Ormsby was born June 6, 1900, in Stockton, the son of Marmaduke and Augusta (Becker) Ormsby. He received his education the Stockton schools. He married Dorinda M. Trede on September 6, 1928, in Davenport. Together they farmed in Muscatine County, until they retired in 1961 and moved to Durant. Dorinda preceded him in death on July 26, 1980. He later became a resident of Oak Glen Home Nursing Home in Coal Valley. He was a member of the Durant Senior Citizens.

He is survived by one daughter, Marian Knock of Moline, IL; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry (Irene) Ormsby of Stanwood and Lloyd Ormsby of Blue Grass; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ormsby and Ethel Ormsby, both of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son-in-law, Ralph Knock, three brothers, George, Frank and Arthur Ormsby and one sister-in-law, Pearl Ormsby.
