on August 15, 1918. They had 3 children: Margaret Arminta, Robert Carl, and Jack Donald.
After spending many years working at the 'Glass House' he developed silicosis of the lungs and died at the early age of 43.

Carl Murray Van Gorder, aged 43, of Star Route, died last night at the Butler CO Memorial Hospital. Mr Van Gorder was born in Center Twp, the son of George E. and Leota Murray Van Gorder. He had been a machinist at Armco for 15 years.
Surviving are his wife, his father and mother, Mr and Mrs George E Van Gorder of Butler; three children, Robert, Arminta, and Jack; a granddaughter; a brother, John A VanGorder of Butler; and a sister Mrs JM Blaine of Center Township.
The body has been removed to the family residence near the new sanatorium where friends may view it until Friday afternoon at 1:30 when it will be taken to the Free Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held from the Free Methodist Church Friday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev JP Atkinson, pastor, assisted by the Rev Harry Slagle, of Franklin, officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
