Mr. Barbier was born in Patterson, LA. He was a longtime resident of Crowley, and a resident of Reserve, LA for the past two years. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, and he was a veteran of the US Army, where he was a diesel mechanic. He graduated from Crowley High School and worked most of his career as a warehouse foreman.
Mr. Barbier was a devoted son and caring brother. He was a knowledgeable gardener and enjoyed collecting, friendships with his neighbors and the company of his dog, Rosco.
Fr. Jared Suire, associate pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to service time. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the US Army.
Mr. Barbier is survived by two sisters, AJ Barbier Varner of Grand Isle, LA and Sandra M. Barbier of LaPlace, LA; his sisters-in-law, Pearl Barbier of Longville, LA , Pam Barbier of Mermentau, LA and Mae Jones of Houma, LA. He is also survived by eight nephews, five nieces, and several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Barbier was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest J. Barbier, Sr., who was born in Lockport, LA and his mother Audrey Guidry Barbier, who was born in Ricahoc, LA; three brothers, Donald A. Barbier, Terry M. Barbier and Robert N. Barbier; and his nephew, Glenn A. Barbier.
