Delpha Rose (Day) Petersen, 93, of Lincoln, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday (12/17/09) at Milder Manor. She was born on April 14, 1916 in Stanley, IA. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1933 and attended Illinois State Normal University. Delpha was married to Sidney Petersen on Oct. 17, 1937. She was a devoted Pastor's wife as they ministered in churches in Igloo, SD, Lyman, Orleans, and Stamford, NE. They retired to Lincoln where her husband died in 1984. Delpha was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.
Family members include: children Betty Petersen, Lincoln; Kenneth Petersen (Carol), Goshen, IN; Joan Ashcraft (Dan), Seville, Spain: Darlene Bose ( Neal), Lincoln; and David Petersen (Dianne) Omaha. Nine grandchildren: Kristi Parker (David), PA; Kathy Perry (Craig), MI; Candy Ashcraft, NE; Lindy Sorenson (Dane), IL; Matt Ashcraft (Rachel), Spain; Jeremy Bose, Jennifer Hunter(Chad); Greta Bose(fiancé Michael); Tara Smith(Adam) all of TN. Eleven great-grandchildren: Karisa, Logan, Zoe, Hannah, Jada, Kaylee, Moses, Megan, Acacia, Amelia, & Zachary.
Preceded in death by husband, parents, Glyde and Inez Day, & two brothers, James & Grant.
Memorial Service 4 PM Sunday (12/20/09) at Temple Baptist Church, 4940 Randolph St. Visitation and viewing, Saturday (12/19/09) 7-8 PM at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A. St. Private burial service. Memorials in lieu of flowers in care of the family for mission work in Bangladesh.
