Joseph Stephen Melson, aged 62, husband of Mrs. Nancy O'Neal Melson, died at 2:20 yesterday afternoon in the residence, 1304 Brambleton avenue, after an illness of three weeks. A son of the late William and Mrs. Armelia Mizell Melson, he was a native of Tyrrell County, N.C., and had made his home in this section for 15 years. He was a member of Vandalla Lodge, No. 47, I.O.O.F., and Industry Council, No. 1.
Besides his wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. N.S. Curles, of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Eva Hampshire and Mrs. J.S. Robins, of Norfolk; two brothers, James and William Melson, of Powells Point, N.C. and seven grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, Jackson and Jefferson streets, South Norfolk, where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
