Charles was the son of Joseph Gegg and Louise Schmitt. On 12 Dec 1906 he married Myrtle Schales and they had no children. In 1918 he married Catherine Comley and they had no children. At various times in his life he was employed as a driver for a lumber yard, a proprietor of soft drinks, and a house painter. Charles died of a coronary occlusion at Central State Hospital at the age of 67.
