Paul Halloway , 54 , of Route# 3, Butler, was killed instantly last night
at 8:15 on the Mountain City highway near the Pine Orchard School
when the car in which he was riding left the road and turned over
several times …
The driver of the car, Joe McQueen, was taken to a local hospital but was
released after treatment for minor injuries..
Officers investigating the accident said that a tire had gone flat throwing
the car off the road where the driver lost control of the car …
Halloway, a veteran of World War I, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ola
{Rainbolt} Halloway ; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Roberts of Gap Creek ;
three brothers, Roy of Doeville, Walter of Lenoir, North Carolina and
John of California ; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Green and Mrs. Lula Black,
both of Johnson City and Mrs. Dora Halloway of California ; and his mother,
Mrs. Rosie E. Halloway of Doeville …..
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM in the Carderview Baptist Church
with the Rev. Clarence Nelson officiating..
Burial will be in the New Carderville Cemetery…
Active pallbearers will be Reece Kite, George Shoun, Fred Lipford, Pete
Caldwell, Captain Cable and S. S. "Red" Ward ….
The Mountain City American Legion Post will conduct full military
Services at the grave ….
