She was retired from textiles and attended the Union Church of God. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Southerland of Whitmire; three sons, James Wayne Black, Larry Black and Ricky Black all of Union; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Black was predeceased by three sisters, Carrie Burch Harris, Flora Burch Harris and Mary Burch Eubanks; two brothers, Luther Burch and Carl Birch.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Union Church of God by Rev. Alton Stone and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial was in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Charles Black, Kenneth Black, Shannon Southerland, Halon Duckett, George G.C. Painter and Eddie O'Dell.
The body remained at the funeral home where the family received friends Saturday night from 7-9 and was placed in the church at 1 p.m. Sunday to await the hour of service.
The family was at the home of her son, Larry Black, 304 Spring St., Union. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Hospice, PO Box 7275, Columbia, SC 29202. The S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
