Thomas L. Badgett was a master builder and farmer. He built the Fisrt Presbyterian Church In Spartanburg, S. C. in 1843 and the Church of the Epiphany in Laurens, S. C. in 1846. In 1835 he built the J. Frank Wofford House in Switzer, S. C. and in 1838 he built Mountain Shoals Plantation in Enoree, S. C. In 1850 he built his own house in the Greek Revival style using Asher Benjamin's pattern book of 1833 on Hwy 49 just north of Wattsville, S. C.
