Funeral services for Mrs. Portie Vearl (Smith) Miller, 97, of Cincinnati, OH, were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007, at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Don Maxson officiating. Burial was in Smith Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller died Wednesday, July 4 at Oak Pavilion Nursing Home in Cincinnati. She was a retired factory employee with the Crosley Co.

Born May 31, 1910, in Oak Grove, she was the daughter of Thomas Allen Smith and Kizzie Madell (Garrett) Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, John Therman, Coy Chasten, Charles Kermit and Walter Theron Smith; and 3 sisters, Vechel Baumgardner, Willa Flo Conger, and Ruby Pauline Smith.

Survivors include a brother, Billy Glenn Smith of Monroe; and three sisters, Inez Dunn of Cookeville, Betty Mossey of Monroe, and Melba Crouch of Byrdstown; a host of nephews, nieces, and other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Phillip Anderson, Bill Dunn, Danny Reagan, Jerry Flowers, Shane Smith, Jimmy and Tommy Baumgardner, and Marshall Parris.
