Mrs. Diana Cooper DeBakey, the wife of Dr. Michael E. DeBakey, pioneer heart transplant surgeon, died of a heart attack today at Methodist Hospital. She was 62 years old.
Mrs. DeBakey had a history of heart troubles and had been a patient at the hospital, the base for her husband's heart surgery team.
She had a deep interest in Latin America and used her fluent Spanish to converse with Latin American patients who came to be treated by her husband.
Besides her husband, Mrs. DeBakey is survived by four sons, Michael M., Ernest, Barry and Denis.
