William Sterling Pemberton, 70, of Oneida, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, October [3,] 1987, at his home. Mr. Pemberton was the son of the late William Pemberton and the late Pearl Adkins Pemberton and was a United States Coast Guard Reserve veteran of World War II and a member of the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia R. Hembree Pemberton of Oneida; two daughters: Patsy Hatfield of Norma, and Evelyn Cookie Pemberton of Oneida; one son, Steve Pemberton of Oneida; one granddaughter, Georgetta Hatfield of Norma; one grandson, William Hoyal Hatfield of Norma; one sister, Virginia Rose Miller of Troy, O.; one niece; several nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, with Rev. Harry Lee Sharpe officiating. The Mason Family sang. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. Oneida American Legion Post #136 was in charge of full military honors at the graveside. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of arrangements.
