Parents were Lewis Franklin Thomas and Cora Belle Murry. The following obituary was printed on Mar. 5, 1983 in the Imperial Valley Press newspaper. QUINTON R. THOMAS Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Hems Bros. El Centro Mortuary for Quinton R. Thomas, 64, of 1101 N. Sixth Street, El Centro, who died Thursday in the Veterans Administration Hospital, San Diego. Born July 29, 1918 in Elk City, Okla., Mr Thomas had been a produce worker for Mario Saikhon for the last 41 years. He had been a resident of Imperial County for 42 years. Rev. Dan Jackson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of El Centro, will officiate at the services. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, El Centro. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Mr Thomas was an Army veteran who saw service in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a son, David Rankin of Washington D.C.; a step son, Maurice Dilts of Cerritos, Calif.; a step daughter, Darlene Thomas Wilson in Oregon; four brothers, Jack Thomas of Holtville, Cecil Thomas of Pixley, Calif., Allen Thomas of Fresno, and Andy Thomas of Flagstaff, Ariz.; Three sisters, Laura Kenner of Bakersfield, Jewell Braggs of Earlimart, Calif., and Cora Loveall of Tipton, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
