OBETA VANLANDINGHAM
Services for Obeta Vanlandingham, 85, of Saint Jo, were set for 10 a.m. today at the McCoy Funeral Chapel in Saint Jo. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. at Fairmont Cemetery in Hollis, Okla. Rev. Keith Rogers will officiate. Services are directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.

Mrs. Vanlandingham died Sunday, July 3, 2005, in Bowie.
She was born April 22, 1920, in Montague, one of eight children to Jim and Cora Bell Roan Grimes.

She attended school in Montague County and married Rossie Lee Vanlandingham on July 7, 1939, in Hollis, Okla. She attended the South Side Baptist Church in Bowie. She enjoyed having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit. She also enjoyed farming, raising and caring for livestock, gardening, walking, square dancing, attending musicals, watching Elvis movies, listening to Elvis and gospel music.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and George Baker of Saint Jo, Darla and Jerry Baker of Arlington, Teresa Perkins of Fort Worth; sister, Wanda Caballero of Alameda, Calif.; brothers and sister-in-law, Doyle and Bula Grimes of Amarillo, Marrion and Ethel Grimes of Wheeler, Clell and Mary Grimes of Santa Clara, Calif., and Kenneth and Pauline Grimes of Wichita Falls; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 1956; daughter, Nomia Lee Callan; and sons, Glen and Max Lee Vanlandingham; sisters, Floyce Payne and Cleo Darnell; and parents, James Sterling and Cora Bell Grimes.
Pallbearers are Brent Callan, Lynn Vanlandingham, Coy Baker, Toby Ratliff, Vance Briley and Eric Martin.
